Do succulents absolutely need pots with drainage holes?

I tried a method to propagate aloe and it went wrong.

It is a common error when that method is tested.

The holes in the pot are so water can drain and not become stagnant, to prevent root rot. Succulents themselves already store water in their leaves and stems so they are more sensitive to excess water, especially if they are pups; the best thing would be to transplant them and not water immediately... Let them adapt to the new soil. It should also be taken into account that this process stresses them and watering them would not give them time to adapt. And also if they had any cut you should let them callus first outdoors for a couple of days before putting them in soil. In case some roots were damaged you should not water because moisture can cause fungus🌱
